This report provides a detailed overview of the progress and achievements made in the execution of the first Web3 BUIDL Workshop milestone by DeFi Africa. It outlines the key tasks completed during the milestone's timeline and highlights significant accomplishments achieved by our team.
We are delighted to share that the event garnered a total attendance of 38 participants. Although the initial registration reached 80 developers, it was observed that many of these registrants were entirely new to coding, not meeting the primary event requirement of being knowledgeable in any programming language, familiar with terminal usage, and possessing basic code literacy (JavaScript was preferred but not mandatory).Following a meticulous filtering process, 46 individuals were deemed qualified to attend and were granted the opportunity to participate actively. Additionally, a dedicated group was created for those who expressed interest but did not meet the initial criteria. Our intention is to nurture their growth within our developer community through upcoming educational initiatives.
The participants represented a diverse range of backgrounds, with 25 attendees identified as computer science students and 13 classified as independent developers or non-students. This diverse composition contributed to the richness of perspectives and experiences during the event.
Here is the visual representations of the participant demographics in the form of bar charts:
Participants gained hands-on experience deploying smart contracts on the Arbitrum Sepolia test network, with 60% successfully deploying their own contracts.
