This report provides a detailed overview of the progress and achievements made in the execution of the Third Web3 BUIDL Workshop milestone by DeFi Africa. It outlines the key tasks completed during the milestone's timeline and highlights significant accomplishments achieved by our team.
We are happy to share that the event recorded a total attendance of 40 participants at peak. We opened 75 slots for registration, which were fully booked, however, we observed that some of these registrants were entirely new to coding as usual, hence not meeting the primary event requirement of being knowledgeable in any programming language, familiar with terminal usage, and possessing basic code literacy (JavaScript was preferred but not mandatory). Following a meticulous filtering process, 55 individuals were deemed qualified to attend and were granted the opportunity to participate actively. As in the previous workshops, a dedicated group was created for those who expressed interest but did not meet the initial criteria. Our intention is to nurture their growth within our developer community through upcoming educational initiatives.
In terms of the participants' backgrounds in this workshop, the majority of them identified themselves as computer science students, and the rest were identified as student developers pursuing artificial intelligence and software engineering. This diverse composition contributed to the richness of perspectives and experiences shared during the event.
Participants gained hands-on experience deploying smart contracts on the Arbitrum Sepolia test network, with 80% successfully deploying their own contracts.
Attendees formed connections, resulting in collaborative projects, indicating lasting impact and growth within the Arbitrum ecosystem.
PUBLIC REPOSITORIES
As of the current status update, a total of 23 attendees have successfully minted their POAPs on the blockchain, adding a personalized touch to their participation in the Web3 BUIDL Workshop. Additionally, 4 participants have made reservations for their POAPs, indicating their intention to complete the minting process. The rest of the participants are being reminded to also mint their POAPs.
It's noteworthy that this data represents the current snapshot, and we anticipate further participation from attendees in the minting process as the event progresses. The enthusiasm surrounding the POAPs is encouraging, and we look forward to an increased number of attendees adding this unique digital collectible to commemorate their involvement in the workshop.
